Kangana Ranaut praises Rishab Shetty’s Kantara, says, “Films like these can help preserve tribal culture”

Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut has voiced her appreciation for Rishab Shetty’s critically acclaimed film Kantara: Chapter 1, praising its depiction of Dev culture and suggesting that such films can play a role in preserving tribal traditions. The Kannada-language epic, which serves as a prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara, continues to make headlines for its spiritual themes, rooted storytelling, and box office success.

Kangana Lauds Kantara's Portrayal of Dev Culture

Kangana took to social media on Tuesday to acknowledge the Kantara franchise after coming across a post highlighting similarities between the Dev culture of the Himalayan region and the South Indian traditions depicted in the film. A user had posted a video describing the spiritual richness of the Dev culture in the North, stating that Kantara offered a similar view into South Indian heritage.

The post read: “What Kantara has shown is reality. Until I saw this movie, I wasn’t aware of South India, but believe me, everyone born in the Himalayas has felt and seen things beyond imagination. The Dev culture here is truly divine, and this movie beautifully shows the vastness of Hinduism and the deep connection people have with their local deities. Kudos to you @shetty_rishab sir for bringing such a marvellous project.”

Kangana responded by sharing her appreciation and adding, “Very nice. Such films can be crucial for stopping tribal conversion also.” Her statement has sparked a fresh wave of discussion online, with many praising Kantara for spotlighting indigenous rituals and folk traditions rarely explored in mainstream cinema.
